This course explores the dynamic relationship between humans and the environment by examining the scientific principles that shape our understanding of the natural world. Students investigate the balance between natural resources and human needs while exploring the scientific, social, economic, and political dimensions of environmental issues. Emphasis is placed on scientific inquiry, environmental sustainability, and the analysis of major environmental challenges affecting individuals, communities, and ecosystems. Students evaluate how environmental change influences quality of life and society while exploring strategies for mitigating and adapting to environmental problems. By the end of the course, students will have developed the scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills needed to make informed decisions in college, the workplace, and their communities.
